The Public Relations Society of Japan was formed as a voluntary organization in 1980 following the merger of the Japan PR Society (est. 1964) and the PR Work Japan Society (est. 1974)

April 1980

7th: The Public Relations Society of Japan (PRSJ) is founded

 

October 1986

1986 IPRA (International Public Relations Association) Tokyo Board of Directors established, international symposium held

 

April 1998

Japan PR Person of the Year and Citizen of the Year awards established

 

October 1999

1999 IPRA International Public Relations Symposium held in Tokyo, attracting participants from 27 countries

 

May 2001

First PR Award Grand Prix held

Guidelines on Copyright issued

Level one PR Planner Certification Examination conducted for the first time
